POS (Point of Sale) Register Creation

A POS Register Creation System includes everything you’ll need to get started with POS in your business. Whether it’s the classical, electronic cash register or an elaborate computerized point of sale (POS) system, every store needs a machine to process sales. The POS or point of purchase is the time and place where a retail transaction is completed.

The point of sale (POS) is often referred as the point of service because it is not just a point of sale but also a point of return or customer order. Point of Sale (POS) terminal software may include features for additional functionality, such as CRM, inventory management, financials, or warehousing.

POS Register Creation Procedure

This procedure uses the demo data company USRT.

  • Go to Retail and commerce then select channel setup and then click on POS setup and select Registers.
  • Click New.
  • In the Register number field, type an ID for the new POS Register Creation. The POS Register Creation ID typically includes codes that help map the register to the store to which it belongs, and the location within the store.
  • Inside the Name field, type a detailed name for the register.
  • In the Store number field, select or enter a value.
  • Inside the Hardware profile field, enter or select a value. Hardware profiles are used to define the retail peripherals that will be connected to the register, such as cash drawer and receipt printer.
  • In the Visual profile field, select or enter a value. Visual profiles are used to define the images used in the POS background and login page as well as themes for the POS.
  • In the EFT POS Register Creation number field, type a value. The EFT POS Register Creation number is used to inform the payment processor which payment terminal is sending authorization requests. This type of value is often called as the “TID” or “Terminal ID”. The Terminal ID can generally be found on a sticker on the payment device.
  • Click Save.

POS Permission Group Creation

This process will show you how to create a POS permission group. The sample data company used to create this task is USRT. This task is designed for the Retail operations manager role.

  • Go to Permission groups.
  • Click New.
  • In the Point of sale (POS) permission group ID field, type a value.
  • In the Description field, type a value.
  • Click on Yes in the View time clock entries field. You can now enable or disable permissions for your POS Permission group. For various permissions you can set a value that will be used to evaluate if the POS user can perform the action.
  • Click on Yes in the Allow create order field.
  • Select Yes in the Allow edit order field.
  • Click on Yes in the Allow retrieve order field.
  • Select Yes in the Allow password change field.
  • Select Yes in the Allow blind close field.
  • Click on Save. After changes are saved you need to run the Staff distribution schedule to push the changes to retail channels.
  • Close the page.
  • Go to Jobs. Next we’ll give the POS permission group to a Job.
  • In the list, select and find the desired record.
  • In the list, click the exact link in the selected row.
  • Click Edit.
  • Expand the Job classification section.
  • In the POS permission group field, select or enter a value. All Workers in Positions for this Job will use this Microsoft Dynamics POS permission group’s settings unless the workers POS permissions have been overridden at their Position level.
  • Click Save. After your changes are saved then you need to run the Staff distribution schedule to push the changes to retail channels.
