Use the Switch Plans Wizard

When you select the Switch plans button, you’re led through the process of buying a new plan that you can switch your current plan to.

  • Cancels your old plan.

  • Choose Billing > Subscriptions.
  • If you have a Partner of Record, take note of the Partner ID to utilize later. Select Active, click More actions > Edit the partner of record and record the ID number.
  • Click on the plan to renew, and then select Switch plans.
  • Mouse over the subscription you want to change to, and then select Buy now.
  • In the Checkout Step 1 page, click Have a promotion or discount code?, enter a promotion code, and then click Apply promotion code. For current CRM Online customers, Microsoft is offering a discounted pricing on Dynamics 365 plans when you transition. Select on your subscription type to find your promo code, then return and complete the remaining steps.
  • Click Next. On the Checkout Step 2 page, if you have a partner, click Add in the right-side of the page, and then utilize the Partner ID if you have recorded previously.
  • Fill the required information, and then click Place order.

Switch Plans Manually

Switching plans manually implies completing the following separate procedures instead of utilizing the switch plans wizard.

  • Buy licenses for the new subscription.
  • Verify the new subscription is ready to use.
  • Reassign user licenses.
  • Expel unneeded licenses from the subscription that you’re switching from.
  • Cancel the original subscription.

To manually switch users to another MS Dynamics 365 subscription, finish the following stages in the order shown.

  • Buy the user licenses for a Dynamics 365 subscription.
  • Confirm that your subscription has the right number of licenses.
  • Reassign user licenses.
  • Cancel the CRM Online subscription.

Stage 1: Buy User Licenses for your MSD 365 Subscriptions

  • Browse to the MS Office 365 administration center and sign in using MS Office 365 Global administrator credentials.
  • Choose Billing > Subscriptions.
  • If you have a Record of a Partner, take note of the Partner ID to utilize later. Under Active, Select More actions > Edit partner of record and record the ID number.
  • Under Active, select + Add subscriptions and select the offer for the service you want and proceed through the purchase process.
  • Mouse over the subscription you want to change to, and then select Buy now.
  • Change the plan options, and then click Add to cart.
  • In your cart, click Add-ons to include Add-ons like an extra non-production instance or more storage.
  • Click Check out in your cart.
  • In the Checkout Step 1 page, click Have a promotion or discount code?, enter a promotion code, and then click Apply promotion code.
  • Click Next. On the Checkout Step 2 page, if you have a partner, Select Add in the right-side of the page, and then utilize the Partner ID if you have recorded previously.
  • Fill the required information, and then click Place order.

Stage 2: Verify that your Subscription has the Right Number of Licenses

It’s important to ensure that all the services inside your new subscription have been set up before moving onto next phase. If the subscription is not ready when you previously check, then try again later.

  1. In the admin center, choose Billing > Subscriptions.
  2. Make sure that the D365 subscriptions appear under Active, and that the number of purchased licenses is correct.

Stage 3: Reassign User Licenses

You can use the MS Office 365 Administration Center to reassign licenses for up to 20 users at a time.

  • In the administration center, choose Users > Active users.
  • Select the boxes besides to the names of the users that you need to move to the Dynamics 365 subscriptions.
  • In the Bulk actions-pane, choose Edit product licenses.
  • Select Replace existing product license assignments > Next.
  • Toggle the switches to Off to expel a license and On to add a license to users.
  • When you’re done, choose Replace > Close.

Stage 4: Cancel the Dynamics CRM Online Subscription

Once you’ve moved every one of your Dynamics CRM Online users to Dynamics 365 plans, you’re ready to cancel your Dynamics CRM Online subscription.

  • Browse to the Office 365 administration center and sign in using Office 365 Global administrator credentials.
  • Select Billing > Subscriptions and choose your Dynamics CRM Online subscription.
  • On the right-hand side of the page, Select More actions > Cancel subscription.
  • Fill the required information on the Cancel subscription page, and the click Cancel subscription.

When you check your Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online subscription (Billing > Subscriptions), you’ll see the following regarding your cancelled subscription:

  • You’re no longer being billed for the subscription.
  • You’ll get a prorated credit for any unused services 30 to 60 days from the date you switched the plans.
  • The subscription is disabled with reduced functionality.
